Pacecas remains the coach of Lietuvos Rytas

Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius announced the extension of head coach Tomas Pacesas’ contract for one more season.

The 44 years old Pacesas joined Lietuvos Rytas in December 2015, helping it win the King Mindaugas Cup, downing Zalgiris Kaunas 67-57 in the final, and finished in the third place in the Lithuanian League this season after losing to Zalgiris Kaunas in the semifinals.

A former player and Olympic bronze medalist with the Lithuanian national team, Pacesas coach Asseco Prokom Gdynia from 2008 to 2012, leading it to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague playoffs in 2010 and winning four consecutive Polish League titles. Now he will have to prepare the league for the next season of LKL and also for Eurocup. “We believe in Tomas Pacesas’s abilities and experience. He helped us win a title, the King Mindaugas Cup, after a long break,” Rytas general manager Martynas Purlys said. “Lietuvos Rytas will have new challenges which, without anu doubt, coach Pacesas han handle, inspiring the team to new victories.”
