Stelmet Zielona Gora strengthened its frontcourt by inking forward Ihor Zaytsev to a one-year deal.
Zaytsev (2.10 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Rosa Radom, where he averaged 10.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in 40 Polish League games last season, taking his team all the way to the finals. He also helped Radom win the Polish Cup title last season. Zaytsev started his professional basketball career with Krivbasbasket-Luc Krivyi Rih of his native Ukraine. He also played for Azovmash Mariupol and Khimik-OPZ Yuhzny of Ukraine, as well as for Petrochimi Bandar Imam Harbour of Iran. Zaytsev helped Krivbasbasket win the UBL title in 2009 and also lifted the Ukrainian League trophy with Khimik in 2015.
He is also a regular member of the Ukrainian national team. Zaytsev returns to the 7DAYS EuroCup for the first time since the 2012-13 season, when he averaged 4.4 points in 5 games with Azovmash.
