Panathinaikos will be the next stop of Gani Lawal, who was officially released by Trabzonspor. His contract included an opt out clause in order to continue his season in Euroleague and he is ready to go.
As the Turkish club, which already signed Kaloyan Ivanov in his place, announced, Lawal will continue his career in Euroleague and the Greens were in the market for a long time, searching for such a player. The American center had a stand out season last year with Milan and now he returns to the top European competition.
Lawal had offers from Spanish ang German teams during the last month, but he was waiting for a Euroleague or an NBA team and finally he agreed with Panathinaikos. He is expected to be landed to Athens on Saturday and he ‘ll be registered immediately in the Greek league and in the second round of the Euroleague Top 16. His contract with the Greens ends the summer of 2016 but this summer there is opt out clause for the player and the team.
UPDATE: As it was expected Panathinaikos announced the signing of Gani Lawal on Saturday the 31 of January.
