The “James Gist & Friends” camp is approaching and via a selfie video, the American forward invited his little friends to this year’s appointment that will take place from the 26th to the 30th of June in Costa Navarino Resort.
The American player along with some great Guest Stars – international basketball players and many well known coaches – will share the “secrets” of the highly popular sports with boys and girls aged 7 to 17.
Through this program, kids will get to know the basketball rules and techniques, develop their abilities in the game, improve their individual and team skills and, of course, have fun in an indoors arena of FIBA standards. The popular basketball player and his friends that will accompany him, will talk and play with every participant, offering them a unique experience. The experience of the previous three years will serve as a guide for this season, which will have many surprises and is expected to be more spectacular than any other.
Along with Gist, this year’s program has been designed and will be implemented in four courses of training by Thanasis Giaples (Qatar champion in 2015 and 2016 with Al Rayyan), Stavros Mykoniatis (assistant coach of Rethymnon Aegean), Vassilis Mitsopoulos (trainer in Al Rayyan and of many Greek Basket League teams) and Vassilis Soulis (Euroleague champion in 1997, Greek champion in 1996 and 1997, Greek Cup winner in 1997, World Champion with Greece U18 team in 1995, 85 times international player with the Greek national team and currently a coach in basketball academies). In the end of the course, a special “Participation Certificate” will be given to all the kids.
Some great personalities of Greek and European basketball have been present and participate in the previous camps, like this year’s Euroleague champion Dimitris Itoudis (head coach in CSKA Moscow), Giorgos Bartzokas (Euroleague champion in 2013 with Olympiaos), GIannis Sfairopoulos (Greek champion in 2015, 2016 and Euroleague finalist in 2015 with Olympiacos), Euroleague legend Thodoris Papaloukas, Brent Petway, Kostas Tsartsaris, Kostas Kaimakoglou, Andreas Glyniadakis, Nikos Argyropoulos, Nikos Papanikolopoulo, and many others. Similar surprises await the participants in the 4th Basketball Camp of Costa Navarino.
