Sant-Roos picks Rice, Wilbekin and Young as players he had hardest time guarding

Howard Sant-Roos started the season with AEK but switched teams recently and continued on with CSKA Moscow which has been having trouble with injuries. Sant-Roos doesn’t think about how much he’ll play but rather how well will he use the minutes he does get:

“I feel completely calm. We all have the same goal – help the team win titles. And it doesn’t matter how many minutes will I spend on the court. The main thing is to work hard on 100 percent when I’m on the court,” he said, per vtb-league.com.

Among other things, Sant-Roos, who is well-known for his defense, was also asked to pick three players he had the hardest time guarding: “First is Tyrese Rice without any doubt. Second is Scottie Wilbekin, we had lots of one-on-ones on practices. Third is Alvin Young, we played together in Italy.”

He chose Wilbekin as one of his former teammates in Darussafaka when he was playing under coach David Blatt to whom he is thankful for everything: “Absolutely. He taught us many things, and I really appreciate all he had done for us. Unfortunately, now Blatt has other things to worry about – fight against the disease. I hope he wins and will recover.”

Although he didn’t get a chance at the NBA, Sant-Roos is glad that he experienced the basketball style in the Summer League: “No, I went to summer league first of all to gain experience and to see what American basketball is. And I’m really glad that I had such a chance,” he said.
