The VTB League announced that the organization will continue to monitor the coronavirus situation in countries with teams competing in the championship.
Thursday’s match between Kalev Tallinn and Lokomotiv Kuban will be played in an empty arena. As of now, there are no official plans for the league’s games to be suspended. VTB is currently the only major basketball league in Europe that is still holding games, apart from the Turkish BSL League and the Israeli Winner League.
Per VTB:
Today’s regular season game Kalev vs Lokomotiv-Kuban will be played without spectators. The game will start at 20:00 at Tallinn’s Kalevi Spordihall. The broadcast will be available at League’s site.
League’s major priority is the health of the players, fans, officials and all the participants.
VTB League is guided by official resolutions of national and regional authorities concerning sports events and countries and cities of VTB United League Championship.
At the moment, taking into account the recommendations of the Estonian government, it has been decided to limit the access to the game between Kalev and Lokomotiv-Kuban to be played on March 12 in Tallinn. The game will be played behind closed doors. VTB United League will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in League countries and cities and be ready to take other measures to ensure participants’ safety.
