The 2019-20 VTB United League season has been temporarily suspended, VTB announced on Friday.
The press release notes that the decision was made after the League discussed with the participating clubs. Taking into account the current situation in Europe and the rest of the world, VTB decided to temporarily suspend the 2019/20 season.
Many players contacted the League to express their health concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic, added VTB.
“The health of the players, fans, and all involved come first for the VTB United League,” the announcement sums up, “The League intends to resume the season when an environment safe for everyone develops.”
The suspension of the regular season finds Khimki Moscow Region in first place with an 18-1 W-L tally. CSKA Moscow, Lokomotiv Kuban, and UNICS Kazan follow rounding up the top four spots.
