Zenit Saint Petersburg opened the game against CSKA Moscow with a 14-0 run and stayed ahead throughout all forty minutes, taking an impressive 81-77 win in the VTB League.
CSKA had a huge comeback effort in the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to just one point (72-71) but Kevin Pangos had the answer for Zenit with seven straight points which decided the outcome.
Pangos was actually struggling with his shooting throughout the match. He missed all seven three-point attempts prior to the run he made and finished a total of nine points. He certainly picked the perfect time to catch fire.
Will Thomas was the one leading Zenit beforehand with 18 points and eight rebounds while Billy Baron had 15 and Denis Zakharov 12 points.
For CSKA, Daniel Hackett scored 20 in addition to Will Clyburn and Johannes Voigtmann’s 19 points each.
Zenit stayed alone at the top with a 19-3 record while Unics, Lokomotiv and CSKA follow with 15 wins each.
