Lokomotiv Kuban dominated following the first quarter to defeat UNICS Kazan, 98-77, in the battle for second place in the final standings of the VTB United League Regular Season.
Drew Gordon firing a team-high 19 points led the way on Sunday. His side securing the second seed will face seventh-placed Khimki Moscow Region carrying the home-court advantage in the best-of-five series.
The hosts, resting several players a couple of days before starting the best-of-three 7DAYS EuroCup Finals versus AS Monaco, were forced to third place and will take on Zielona Gora in the quarterfinals. Pavel Sergeev banked seven threes en route for a game-high 25 points.
CSKA Moscow finished fourth generating a best-of-five series against fifth-seeded Nizhny Novgorod. The quarterfinal opponents faced off in the Regular Season finale with Dimitris Itoudis’ side narrowly holding on to the 85-84 victory. Gabriel Lundberg poured a game-high 20 points.
The other quarterfinal pairing features top-seed Zenit Saint-Petersburg versus eighth-placed Parma Perm.
