Avtodor Saratov made a 6 – 1 run in the final two minutes of the VTB League game against Unics Kazan to take an 81 – 76 win. Unics dropped its first match of the season in VTB after three wins.
Five players scored in double figures for Avtodor that won the game thanks to its much superior shooting (49 percent from the field against 37 percent) to make up for Unics outrebounding them 19 – 9 on the offensive.
Jaron Johnson (15 points, seven rebounds), Phil Scrubb (15 points), Kenny Cherry (11 points, five assists), Grant Jerrett (10 points, seven rebounds) and DJ Funderburk finished with double-digit numbers for Avtodor. Their team is now 3-1.
From Unics, Lorenzo Brown had 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists while John Brown posted 17 points and five boards.
