With the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine, Russian clubs have been in a tough situation when it comes to playing in Europe and keeping their foreign players present. VTB League faced challenges as well with Kalev/Cramo leaving the competition and Zielona Gora suspending its participation.
However, the league announced that the schedule will continue as normally as possible with corrections to the standings. All games involving Kalev will be ‘erased’.
Per the VTB United League:
VTB League 2021/22 season continues
The VTB United League season will continue on March 5-7 according to the approved schedule.
On March 5, Enisey will host Lokomotiv Kuban, on March 6 Zenit will play versus PARMA-PARIMATCH, UNICS will play against Tsmoki-Minsk, on March 7 Avtodor will host CSKA.
At the moment, the League is working with all teams to optimize the schedule.
Kalev left the League and, according with the League regulations, all the Estonian team past games have been canceled.
Zielona Gora has suspended participation in the League at the moment, the next 3 team’s games have been postponed (against Nizhny Novgorod, Enisey and PARMA-PARIMATCH).
At the end of the regular season, the Top-8 teams advance to the playoffs, where they will play in a series of 3 wins.
