CSKA Moscow announced the addition of experienced guard Casper Ware. The 32-year-old player signed a contract until the end of the season to join the Russian powerhouse in light of the departures of guards Daniel Hackett and Iffe Lundberg, apart from forward Tornike Shengelia.
Per CSKA:
A native of California, a graduate of Long Beach State college, began his professional career in the Italian second division, after which he traveled a lot around the world. Casper’s dossier includes championship titles in France and Australia, nine NBA games with Philadelphia (5.3 points, 1.1 assists), performances in Germany, China and Poland. In the VTB United League for Enisey, Ware played 13 games averaging 16.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Fans of the red-and-blues probably remember the American player after the December game with Enisey in Krylatskoye, where Casper scored 29 points, had 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Dimitris Itoudis, CSKA head coach:
In the current situation, the club is trying to understand what moves can be made to improve, and we quickly made a decision on this. We found a common language with Casper, he has experience of playing in the VTB League, he wanted to play for our team. We needed a point guard, because at the moment we only have Khomenko in this position, plus Ukhov is doing a great job, so we needed to add a player. I wish Casper good health, and all of us, the staff and players, will try to help him make quick adaptation.
Casper Ware, CSKA guard:
First of all, I want to thank Enisey. I had a great season there, I was welcomed with open arms, teammates, front office, coaches treated me very well, and I have a lot of love for them. Now I am happy that I had the opportunity to play for CSKA, I am very excited to play for historic club like this. I can’t wait to get to work.
