Jonas Jerebko returns to action with CSKA Moscow with a deal for the remainder of the season, the club announced Wednesday.

Jerebko, 35, last played for Khimki Moscow between 2019 and 2021 and has remained off action since the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

The Swedish power forward returned to Europe for Khimki after spending a decade in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors. He posted career averages of 6.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 635 games across 10 seasons.

“We wanted to add an experienced player at 4-position, we needed one in new circumstances”, stated CSKA playcaller Dimitris Itoudis upon the announcement of the deal. “Definitely, the market now has not so many offers. Jonas was thrilled to come and play for us, to get the opportunity on the high level. We have a history of relationships, I coached Jonas when he was playing for the Detroit Pistons in his first Summer League in Vegas. Many players on our team also know him well, especially Alexey [Shved] who played with Jerebko for Khimki. He was not on the pro team recently so we will need time to put him back in shape body and mind and include him into our system”.
