Mindaugas Kuzminskas, Zenit have terminated their contract per mutual agreement

Zenit St Petersburg announced Friday they have parted ways with forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas, per mutual agreement to terminate their binding contract.

Kuzminskas, 32, joined the club for the 2021-22 season and his second stint in Russia after a nearly two-year run with Lokomotiv Kuban (2019-2021). He posted an average of 5.0 points and 2.0 rebounds across 22 games prior to the club’s suspension this season.

The Lithuanian forward is the fourth player to depart from Zenit after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and the subsequent suspension of Russian clubs from EuroLeague Basketball competitions. In the meantime, Zenit has also parted ways with Conner Frankamp, Mateusz Ponitka, and Arturas Gudaitis.

With players fleeing Russian clubs in mass, suitors are emerging in the market. According to late March reports, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv is making a push for Zenit head coach Xavi Pascual, as well as targetting Ponitka and Alex Poythress.
