Billy Baron scored 21 points and Jordan Loyd flirted with the triple-double (14 points, nine assists, eight rebounds) as Zenit St. Petersburg beat CSKA Moscow 97 – 95 in Game 5 of the VTB League Finals to cut its deficit to 3-2 and force a return home for a Game 6
CSKA erased an 11-point margin (66-77) in the fourth period to tie the score at 86 with less than two minutes to play. Loyd and Alex Poythress made it 89 – 93 for Zenit with 30 seconds to remaining and Baron hit two key pairs of free throws to secure the visiting side’s win.
Alexey Shved had 31 points for CSKA while Nikola Milutinov posted 15 points plus 10 rebounds.
