UNICS Kazan announced Thursday they have retained head coach Velimir Perasovic until the end of the 2022-23 campaign. Perasovic will enter the second year of his first contract with UNICS, which he signed in June 2021.
UNICS will not compete in any EuroLeague Basketball competitions next season, per the ECA Shareholders’ decision Thursday, though it will still be able to compete in the VTB United League.
This season, Perasovic, 57, led UNICS to the 2021-22 VTB League semifinals, where his club lost 3-1 to 2022 champions Zenit St Petersburg.
A EuroCup champion with Valencia in 2014, Perasovic has amassed head coach experience in big European clubs such us Split, Baskonia and Anadolu Efes, while he has also served as a head coach for the national team of Croatia in 2015.
