Valencia loans Nenad Dimitrijevic to UNICS

Valencia has loaned Nenad Dimitrijevic to UNICS, the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague team announced Wednesday.

Per the press release: “Valencia Basket has reached an agreement with Unics Kazan so point-guard Neno Dimitrijevic (1.90m, Skopje (Macedonia del Norte), 23/02/1998, 24 years) will play on loan in the Russian team during the 2022-23 season.

The North-Macedonian point guard joined the Taronja squad in the summer of 2021, after having played on loan at Joventut Badalona in his first year with the Taronja team. In the 2021-22 campaign, he played 33 games with the Taronja jersey, averaging 8.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists and 7.8 PIR in over 18 minutes per game.”

Dimitrijevic, 24, will play in the VTB United League and Russian Cup next season. Another player recently coming in from Valencia was Louis Labeyrie. The French big man inked a one-year contract with UNICS as a free agent.

Further replenishing the squad, the team based in Kazan also secured the services of Mikhail Kulagin, Stanislav Ilnitsky, Daryl Macon Jr., Sergey Polstyanov, Alexander Razumor, Jalen Reynolds, Vince Hunter, and Artem Zabelin. Returning players are Andrey Vorontsevich, Vyacheslav Zaitcev, and Georgy Zhbanov.

As for Valencia, Texas-born American import, Chris Jones is expected to be the main player at the point in the 2022-23 editions of EuroLeague and Spain’s Liga Endesa. Other newcomers are Kyle Alexander, Jonah Radebaugh, and James Webb III alongside head coach Alex Mumbru. Martin Hermannsson, Klemen Prepelic, and Sam Van Rossom all penned contract extensions during the offseason.
