First reported by the Russian outlet Sport Express, Xavi Pascual will stay for another season with BC Zenit Saint Petersburg.
The Spanish coach has been the subject of numerous rumors across Europe, but reportedly did not receive an offer that best suited him. He is highly motivated to bring the championship title back to Zenit.
Pascual was rumored to be in contention for the head coaching position at Monaco, but the club decided to continue with Sasa Obradovic.
Similarly, Anadolu Efes considered Pascual as a potential candidate to take over the team after Ergin Ataman, but ultimately chose Erdem Can for the job.
Xavi Pascual joined Zenit in 2020 and signed a contract extension last summer for an additional three years. In 2022, he led the St. Petersburg club to the VTB League title.
