Taking revenge from last season, when they didn’t make it to the VTB League Finals, CSKA Moscow came back to the winning side by grabbing the title in Russia, beating UNICS Kazan in the best-of-seven series.
Andreas Pistiolis’ team beat UNICS Kazan 66-55 on the road, ending the series with a 4-1 win. Melo Trimble, named MVP of the VTB League Finals, had 10 points in Game 5 but dominated all throughout the series. Tonye Jekiri almost had a double-double of 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Battling it out with Jalen Reynolds under the rim, the former Bayern Munich center also almost had a double-double of 18 points and 9 rebounds in the defeat. Last year’s MVP of the VTB Finals Nenad Dimitrijevic had 9 points in what could be his last game with UNICS Kazan.
