After two years, French point guard Thomas Heurtel has parted ways with Zenit Saint Petersburg.

The Russian club announced that both parties have decided to terminate their cooperation by mutual agreement.

Thomas Heurtel joined Zenit in September 2022. Over two seasons in St. Petersburg, the guard played 90 games, scoring 1,211 points and setting a club record with 699 assists.

As a Zenit player, Thomas Heurtel was named VTB League Rookie of the Year and twice earned Player of the Month honors in the championship.

In the recently concluded 2023/24 season, he participated in 42 games, averaging 13.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game.

The 35-year-old was criticized in his homeland for his decision to play in Russia, and since joining Zenit, he has not played for the French national team due to sanctions imposed by the French Federation (FFBB).
