Khimki Moscow began its obligations in VTB League with a 83 – 55 display of strength against Tsmoki Minsk at home.
The two teams walked side by side int he first half (39-35) but Khimki returned from the locker room after the break with ready to “bite” defense. Coach Bartzokas’ players allowed only 20 points in the third and fourth period translating their stops to prolific scoring on the other end.
Alexey Shved dropped 19 points and dished out 5 assists while Charles Jenkins scored 14 and stole the ball four times. Anthony Gill added 9 point, as many as Stefan Markovic who also notched 7 assists.
David Kravish was the only Minsk player with double-figures (10 points).
Earlier, Unics Kazan destroyed Zenit St. Petersburg in the premiere game of the league.
