Ζenit edged CSKA Moscow in the VTB League with 87-83 and improved to a 9-2 record, while this marks the visitors’ second loss of the season.
After finishing the first period with a tie (22-22, 10′), CSKA got the upper hand in the second half despite the pressure and led 45-40 at halftime.
The game was set to be a derby, as the margin was close in the second half, with the visiting side keeping short leads before the end of the third period (67-63, 30′).
Sergey Karasev led the winners with 23 points, while for the opposing side Will Clyburn finished with 17 points.
Earlier in the day, Lokomotiv Kuban and Unics Kazan recorded respective wins against Kalev and Nizhny Novgorod.
