Vorontsevich on fire and win for CSKA in Westermann’s return

By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

Despite playing without Nando De Colo due to rest reasons, CSKA faced no problem against Nizhny Novgorod, winning 97 – 80 to claim victory no. 12 in VTB League.

CSKA coach Dimitris Itoudis was happy to see Andrey Vorontsevich hitting 5/5 from downtown (17 points in total) and four of his players scoring in double figures but also having French guard Leo Westermann back in action.

Westermann finished with 9 points, 1 assists, and 1 steal in 16 minutes in his first game since late October. Kyle Hines added 11 points, Nikita Kurbanov 10 plus 8 rebounds and Will Clyburn 10 points and 6 boards.

Petr Gubanov led Nizhny with 22 points and 5 rebounds.

In the rest of the Week’s games, Lokomotiv Kuban continued its superb run by defeating Khimki Moscow at home. Former Lokobasket and current Khimki coach Giorgos Bartzokas expected a rather different welcome, expressing his discontent after the match.
