Stevan Jelovac set a new VTB League scoring record thanks to the incredible number of 49 (!) points he dropped to lead Nizhny Novgorod to an overtime 103 – 97 victory over Kalev Tallinn on the road.
And yes, you guessed right. This is a new overall career high for the Serbian power forward. At the same time, this is a quite rare number considering European basketball standards. In EuroLeague, for example, the scoring record is just 41 points.
To notch this impressive outing, Jelovac shot 8/12 two-pointers, 6/10 3-pointers and 14/22 from the free throw line. If it wasn’t enough that he made buckets in any way imaginable, he grabbed 15 rebounds to finish with an enormous 55 (!) in PIR.
