A putback basket by Drew Gordon in the very last second, gave Zenit St. Petersburg a 79 – 78 win over Lokomotiv Kuban in the VTB League Game of the Week.
Gordon finished the game with 11 points plus 9 rebounds while Sergey Karasev scored a game-high 17 points and dished out 4 assists.
Joe Ragland had 15 points for Lokomotiv that entered the fourth period up by 7, 59 – 66 but lost this advantage quickly. The match became extremely close down the stretch with multiple lead changes. Trevor Lacey put Loko ahead 77 – 78 with seven seconds remaining and then Gordon hit the decisive bucket in the next play.
On Thursday, Unics Kazan beat Avtodor Saratov on the road 80 – 78 while Nizhny Novgorod defeated Parma 80 – 82 away from home.
