Despite Khimki Moscow taking over the game in the second period, Christofer Czerapowicz pushed Tsmoki Minsk to tie the game at 79 with four seconds left on the clock. Although everybody was already thinking about overtime, Stefan Markovic took the ball and hit an unbelievable shot from the half court to bring an 82-79 victory to his team in the VTB League.
Andrey Zubkov led Khimki with 22 points in addition to 13 from Charles Jenkins. On the other side, Czerapowicz’s outstanding game with 33 points (7/10 behind the arc) fell just a bit short.
Khimki didn’t have Alexey Shved in the roster this game, which could be the reason why they couldn’t keep the same focus throughout all forty minutes. After trailing by five points at the end of the first quarter they took over the leading role with a 12-2 run early in the second period. It looked like they will finish it safely but Czerapowicz pushed Tsmoki’s comeback effort bringing the game to an interesting finish.
With this win, Khimki remained safely in the playoff zone on the 5th place with a 12-9 record, while Tsmoki with 7-13 missed a chance to get ahead in the race for the eight spot.
