New Orleans Pelicans general manager Dell Demps is attending Game 2 of the VTB League quarterfinals between Russian powerhouses Khimki Moscow and Lokomotiv Kuban.
Both Khimki and Lokomotiv feature players that could potentially be of interest to an NBA team.
Khimki has former NBAer and 2017-2018 EuroLeague top scorer (21.8 points, 5.2 assists per game) Alexey Shved, American forwards Anthony Gill, Tyler Honeycutt (once a Sacramento Kings player) and Malcolm Thomas (had stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls) plus swingman James Anderson who has also played in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers and the Sacramento Kings.
There’s also former NBAer Thomas Robinson in Khimki but he’s out due to an injury.
NBA veteran guard with the New York Knicks and the LA Clippers Mardy Collins plays with Lokomotiv Kuban along with big Frank Elegar plus guards Trevor Lacey and Joe Ragland. Australian wing Ryan Broekhoff is out until the end of the season.
The Pelicans have been known to look for players in the European market. Last summer they signed American forward Darius Miller who was coming off a two-year stint with EuroLeague club Brose Bamberg.
Khimki Moscow has a 1-0 lead in the series against Lokomotiv Kuban after winning Game 1 on the road.
