The expansion of the VTB United League to Poland was announced after the meeting of the league board in Moscow.
“It is a great honor for us. We will compete with the strongest clubs in Europe”, said owner Janusz Jasiński, who participated in the meeting.
It’s unclear how this decision can affect the participation of Zielona Gora in the Polish league. However, it’s not the first time that a team from Poland competes in the VTB. Asseco Prokom competed in the VTB between 2010 and 2012 and Turow Zgorzelec did it also between 2012 and 2014.
Plus the VTB league announced that the finals format us changing again. The playoffs return all the way to the finals and the Final Four is abandoned.
