The arch-rival of CSKA Moscow in Russia proved once again that they are worthy of the title. Just a few hours after the easy road win of the “Army Team”, Khimki Moscow Region beat VEF Riga on the road by 29 points (96-67) in their first game of the VTB United League season.
With Alexey Shved (23 p., 8 as.) and Jordan Mickey (16 p., 7 r.) setting the tone, things were quite simply on the court. Khimki led by a double score at halftime (52-26), had a 37 points advantage (78-41) near the end of the third quarter and cruised until the end.
Artis Ate with 19 points was the top scorer of the hosts.
