Janis Timma dropped a season-high 26 points as Khimki Moscow defeated Astana 93 – 80 in the VTB League Game of the Week.
In the 31:35 minutes he spent on the floor, Timma shot 6/7 2-pointers, 4/8 3-pointers plus 2/2 from the line. The Latvian forward, who plays with Khimki on loan from Olympiacos, also grabbed five rebounds and stole the ball twice for a team-high 28 PIR.
Alexey Shved added 22 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds for Khimki that improved to 15 – 5 with this win. Astana dropped to 13 – 8. Despite the efforts of J.J. O’ Brien (19 points), Michael Jenkins (17 points) and Kenneth Horton (16 points, six rebounds) the Kazakh side was unable to keep up with Khimki’s offense.
