The last ten times the two clubs squared off, Kalev/Cramo Tallinn lost to Zenit Saint-Petersburg, but that wasn’t the case on Wednesday. The hosts of the VTB United League regular season contest not only snapped their losing streak with the 96-80 victory, but also booked a VTB playoffs ticket for the first time.
Tony Wroten went off for 31 points, dished eight assists and grabbed eight rebounds as well. Fellow Americans Arnet Moultrie and Chavaughn Lewis added 22 and 17 points, respectively. The Estonian team is now 12-12, Zenit dropped to 14-10 despite Codi Miller-McIntyre’s team-high 15 points.
In an epic battle between playoffs teams, Khimki Moscow Region defeated Nizhny Novgorod, 97-93 in overtime. Janis Timma forced the extra period making a three-pointer and finished with 20 points. Alexey Shved poured 34 and Jordan Mickey had 22 for the visitors’ seventh straight win.
