After keeping CSKA Moscow to the top of the VTB United league for years and among the Euroleague elite, Andrey Vatutin once more is tempted to leave Moscow for Brooklyn.
Mikhail Prokhorov is the full owner of the Nets and according to Eurohoops sources, Vatutin is his top choice for the job of the general manager. Billy King’s contract expires at the end of the season, things are going to change in the Nets and the president of CSKA Moscow is offered the position. This is not the first time Prokhorov wanted Vatutin in Brooklyn. Back in 2010 there were also reports about an offer to Vatutin for an undefined role. However this time things are different.
With that being said, Vatutin hasn’t decided yet anything about his future and the option of him remining at the head of CSKA Moscow is more than just an alternative. There’s no fixed timetable about his decision, Prokhorov, who was for year the main financial supporter of CSKA, is waiting for him and it remains to be seen what the future holds…
Born in Moscow at 1973, Vatutin is a graduate of the Moscow State University in the faculty of journalism. He has worked as the Russian Basketball Federation press officer, as the Ural Great CEO assistant, as the Russian national team general manager asistant. Since 2002 he is part of the CSKA Moscow organization and from 2007 the CEO. Under his managment CSKA Moscow won the 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 Russian Superleague and the 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 Russian Championships. Also the team won the 2007 and 2010 Russian Cup, the 2009-10, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 United League VTB and the 2008 Euroleague.
