Laboral Kutxa officially announced the transfer of Andrea Bargnani. “Il Mago” signed with Baskonia and he returns to Europe after 10 years in the NBA.
According to the club, the contract is a two year deal and includes opt out options for both sides.
Bargnani, the number 1 pick of the 2006 draft, played for the Toronto Raptors, the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets. Before that he was a member of Benetton Treviso. Despite being a seven-footer, the 31 years old center is widely known also for his shooting ability.
An other big guy who had come from a mediocre season, Greek Giannis Bourousis, emerged last year as the best center of Euroleague playing for Baskonia and it’s obvious that Bargnani wants to repeat the same scenario, as the team will be build around him.
The imminent deal was first reported by Alfonso Azkorreta, of Spanish newspaper “El Correo”.
