With a 92 – 87 victory over Galatasaray, Dinamo Sassari won the “Mimi Anselmi” tournament and looked ready to be highly competitive in the upcoming season.
Despite the absences of Russ Smith and Vladimir Micov, two of their major weapons, the Eurocup champions were quite productive against their opponents but lacked defensive consistency.
The backcourt force of Trevor Lacey (19 points) and Darius Johnson Odom (14 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds) did damage to the “Cimbom“, while Brian Sacchetti (18 points) struck effectively from the wings.
For coach Ataman’s team, Justin Dentmon scored 17 points, Austin Daye 16 and Sinan Guler 13. Alex Tyus and Deon Thompson added 11 each.
It is worth noting that revenues from the ticket sales were a part of a donation to the victims of the recent earthquake in Italy. With the contribution of Sassari’s sponsor, that doubled the sum, a total of €17.222 was given to the charity.
