In a strange turn of events, Galatasaray decided to change its stance towards their American guards. Justin Dentmon and the club decided to part ways, while Russ Smith is back to practices with the rest of the team.
Two weeks ago the situation was completely different with Dentmon being back to the team after the “Kaunas incident” and on the other hand coach Ergin Ataman stated numerous times that Smith was on the exit door.
Eurohoops sources confirm that Dentmon and Galatasaray have a deal about the end of their cooperation and the official announcement is expected soon. It remains to be seen if Smith will be back on the court in the upcoming games. The side of Smith, however, had stated that the club had to honor the contract of the player and this fact may mean that Galatasaray simply couldn’t get rid of his contract.
Dentmon will receive his full payment for December and is expected to leave Istanbul during the weekend. Galatasaray is already on the market and hopes to add a guard in the roster soon.
