In a quite tough VTB battle that was decided in overtime, Avtodor Saratov beat Parma 101 – 97 on the road, improving their league record to 3-8 while keeping their opponents… winless 0-12!
In a manner similar to what took place in its match vs Unics, Parma had an opportunity to grab its first victory in the season, but with the score 86 – 83, Brendan Fraizier (15 points) won the basket and the foul to force the extra period.
With positive energy at their side, the guests took the 88 – 93 lead in the mid of overtime and then were good enough from the free-throw line in order to preserve their advantage.
Top championship scorer Nick Minnerath dropped 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the winning squad, while Vince Hunter registered a double-double of 20 points/10 rebounds. Ivan Ukhov’s 29 points plus 9 rebounds and Danilo Andjusic’s 23 points (albeit with 1/8 three-pointers) weren’t enough for Parma.
Earlier today, VEF Riga defeated Kalev Tallinn 78 – 66 at home in the first VTB League game for 2017, behind 15 points and 7 rebounds courtesy of Marins Meiers plus 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists by Mareks Mejeris. RIGA is now seventh in the standings with a 5-5 record.
Demonte Harper had 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the Estonian team that suffered its ninth defeat in eleven games.
