CSKA Moscow survived a comeback to beat Anadolu Efes 80 – 77 for the 20th Round of the EuroLeague regular season.
Derrick Brown had a chance to send the match in overtime with a last-second shot but he couldn’t nail it with two players guarding him.
The defending champs reached victory no. 15 nervously, even though they were leading by double-digits, 79 – 69 with 90 seconds to go. Despite their efforts in the last minutes, Efes is faced its 11th defeat in the competition.
Kyle Hines registered a double-double of 13 points plus 10 rebounds for the winning squad, while Nando De Colo added 14 points plus 4 assists.
With 24 points plus 4 assists, Thomas Heurtel had one of his best games in the season so far but neither he or Tyler Honeycutt’s 16 ponts plus 6 rebounds were enough for Efes.
CSKA Moscow took the advantage after a balanced first quarter (25 – 24) and went to the locker rooms ahead 42 – 35. But it was in the third quarter where their productivity of 23 points increased their lead to 65 – 52.
The Turkish team couldn’t catch a break from beyond the arc having 1/18 until the mid of the fourth period. That was perhaps another reason why their reaction arrived perhaps too late to do them good.
